Who are we?

BUILD:PUBLIC

A group of volunteer urban real estate design and development experts.

  • We focus on a high-quality public realm.
  • We are informed by community plans and inputs.
  • We translate stakeholder voices into actionable plans.
  • We seek to increase value for all parties.
  • We can transform sites into successful neighborhoods.

Why does this matter?

  • Uptown can’t afford the wrong project or even an average project.
  • This next large project must be transformative. It must be a welcoming, safe place for all.
  • Excellent urban planning will help bring Uptown back.
  • The Minneapolis 2040 Plan is clear. The BUILD:PUBLIC plan is Minneapolis 2040 ‘on the ground’.

Why support the BUILD:PUBLIC Plan?

  1. It’s easy.
  2. It’s the current plan PLUS important elements for long term success.
  3. Everyone wins.

Plan Comparison

The current plan approved by the Planning Commission was forwarded without consulting nearby neighborhoods about major changes from earlier versions that had community backing. The enhanced plan advanced by BUILD:PUBLIC includes equitable features like a public plaza, front stoops, and ground-floor shops.
